Historic Ports and Scenic Shores Highlight Coastal Georgia

Southern seabreezes, historic towns and ports, and a rich history spanning hundreds of years are just some of the elements that make coastal Georgia unlike any other region in the state.

Savannah and its port serves as the hub of activity for the region. As Georgia's oldest city, Savannah features a variety of historical landmarks, including 21 historic squares and world-renowned architecture. Savannah is one of Georgia's largest tourism draws, with more than 12.5 million visitors annually. Just down the road from Savannah is Tybee Island, known for it's public beaches, salt marshes and exciting recreation opportunities.

Just South of Savannah is historic Brunswick and the Golden Isles, which are comprised of Georgia's barrier islands - Jekyll Island, St. Simon's Island, Sea Island, and Little St. Simon's Island. The Golden Isles feature breathtaking landscapes and play host to a variety of events and festivals year-round. Keep traveling down the road and take a ferry to Cumberland Island, and explore its unspoiled beauty while learning about its ties to early 21st century aristocracy.

The surrounding communities of Richmond Hill, Kingsland, St. Mary's, and Hinesville, among others, round out to make this region a unique part of Georgia with a variety of activities, jobs, and recreational opportunities for residents and visitors alike.
